FRIENDS OF ART

The Friends of Art, established in 1965, is a civic minded support group for the Lowe Art Museum for the purpose of "bringing together in friendship, people dedicated to furthering of art programs to benefit the University of Miami and to create interest in them."

It is the goal of Friends to maintain and build on the excellent past achievements in temporary exhibitions, art acquisitions, and cultural services for the Greater Miami community, as well as build wider friendships and support.

Throughout the years, Friends of Art has purchased several works of art for the Lowe's permanent collection and contributed toward others. Individual members of Friends have also contributed many works of art for the collection.

Friends of Art membership offers a varied and active program throughout the year. Receptions at the homes of Miami collectors continue to be one of the most popular activities for members. Other special events include galas, art related travel, an annual installation dinner, pre-lecture receptions, and events with nationally renowned artists and directors. The benefits of members are tailor-made for South Florida's ambitious, public-spirited, art-oriented men and women.
